Reingold social media animations for fun
While I worked as a freelancer for Reingold in 2019, the animation team there decided that in our down time, it would be fun to do little animations for Reingold’s social feed. There was a spreadsheet to sign up to do the animation for a given month. Each animation would be tied to a holiday or lesser known celebration that took place that month. I signed up for August, my birth month, which meant doing an animation about “Relaxation Day”. It was up to the animator to come up with the look/feel, find the music, and animate, of course. It was a short project that I enjoyed for breaking up the client work and be fully immersed in what feels good to me. Other animators could chime in on our private Slack channel to give feedback and ideas, and I made small tweaks here and there based on their recommendations, as well as providing it to my colleagues when they asked.
Every animator on staff participated in the December social post animation because we each got to do a short segment for a longer piece about our New Year’s resolutions. Each person’s portion was supposed to only be 5 seconds, which was a fun creative challenge. My resolution was to save money, so I came up with the concept of a piggy bank being so full of coins that it bursts. It was delightful to portray the piggy’s growing dismay at being overfilled. I also enjoyed the sound effects!
