Census - Statistics in Schools
The importance of getting the right count
The Census Bureau has been a client of Reingold’s for many years. Most recently in 2020, while I was freelancing for Reingold, we created hundreds of short social media videos that encouraged everybody to take the Census. One such example is below.
Prior to that, in 2019, I was tasked with creating a “Statistics in School” video. I was given a voiceover script that was meant for an elementary school aged child. It was my task to come up with visuals for the script and create a storyboard. Once that was approved, I proceeded with animation. This is my favorite post production process for motion graphics: being given a script and having a vision that I can pitch and bring to life.
In 2015, I created the video “Life by Numbers” for Census. This video discusses the importance of statistics in everyday life. I was given the raw footage from the shoot, which I edited based on the script and added motion graphics. Part of this involved compositing footage into the iPad the student was using. At the time, this challenged my skill set, but I was glad and eager to push myself out of my comfort zone. Now it would be no sweat to do this project! I was happy with how it turned out and so was the client.
